ever noticed how some people laugh at inappropriate times? i answered the phone at work today and because the vet clinic i work at has 3 locations, she asks, "which clinic is this?" i tell her, and she laughs, loudly, "ha, ha, ha - i thought so." i think to myself...what is funny here? i didn't tell her a joke. don't get me wrong, i don't mind laughing. i like to laugh when things are funny. it didn't sound like nervous laughter. more people than you would think have this problem. i wish i could record my conversations with people and play them back for you all to listen to. this conversation doesn't even come close to some of my best. there are times when i want to take the receiver and bang it on the desktop until the person quits rambling. there is a level of information i need to know. i need to know when you want to bring your pet in and why it is coming. i do not need to know the last time it pooped, urinated, ate, rolled over, lied down, licked itself, etc. unless it is pertinent to the visit. some people i think are lonely - some i think just talk too much - others i think are crazy. the best question i have ever heard is "is it ok if i breed my dog with her brother?" um...no, not ok. that's the kind that after i hang up the phone i just stand in awe and say "wow."
