updating

wow. so i need to do a little better than a yearly update. most of the people blogging have kids, so they have a little more excitement to share, although a lot has happened with ben and i over the past year, so i really don't have an excuse.

first, we have moved back to atlanta. i have actually been here since may and ben just got here last week! we have been living apart for nearly 9 months, so it's great to finally be together again! i got a great job at merial and i really love it. after 4 years of not loving my jobs in indiana, i am glad that i've finally gotten one i enjoy. ben is still going to be working for cummins, but working remotely. it's kind of a temporary fix to our long distance issues, so hopefully he'll be able to get something in atlanta before too long.

so my last post from february 09 was about my terrible headaches. turned out to be some sinus issues. i ended up having surgery in september to fix a few things. it's been a long road, but now that it's nearly 6 months later, i think i am seeing some improvement. i had more complications that most people do, so it's been a struggle, but hopefully the worst is over.

we just sold our house in indiana and are starting our search in georgia. right now we are thinking alpharetta area. as i get more info, i will try to pass along updates. whew! it's been quite a year!

headaches

so, i have been having terrible headaches lately. i hardly ever have headaches, so this is very unusual for me. i'm going back to the doctor today and i can't wait - seriously...i am actually excited. i went to the allergist a week ago and was informed i was allergic to dust mites and grass. great...can't really do anything about grass. as far as the dust mites are concerned, i made my bedroom hypoallergenic this weekend. still woke up with a headache this morning. something is not right here. i wish i could rip all the carpet out of our house, but it's just not in the budget. i could only wish. i was relieved to find out i wasn't allergic to dogs and/or cats. that would have caused problems.

anyway, i haven't had the urge to blog lately. i've tried to change my lifestyle since the new year and i'm doing ok at it. i had been working out more and drinking less - considerably less. the drinking i am sticking to pretty well (with the exception of a wedding we went to in january.) the key is if i don't buy it, i don't drink it. i'm not really keeping any wine in the house these days. the work outs are not going well. headaches do not inspire me to jump on the elliptical machine.

i'll let you know what the allergist says after my appointment today. hopefully the problems will be remedied!

quiet night

not much happening tonight. the tv is off and ben and i are sitting on the couch together being pretty quiet. i honestly think he might be drooling into the cooking light magazine he is reading. every time her turns the page, he says "ooooo....that sounds good."

to recap my last few days. ben and i went to west virginia for thanksgiving. my parent's mission there has grown so much i can't keep up with everything they are doing these days. i would have never imagined that a place like this existed until i saw if for myself. you can't see how bad it is in pictures, but i can tell that mom and dad and all those who are helping them are making a difference. they've got three stores, several facilities where people can stay when they come to visit/work, and events for those in need all the time. it's pretty amazing and makes me really proud.

so, we got home early in the evening on saturday. we proceeded to plop ourselves down on the couch. since the girls who keep annie for us when we are out of town thought we weren't getting home until sunday, we decided to go out with her and another friend to a movie. we went and saw four christmases. it was ok - not quite as good as i was hoping, but ok. i would classify it as a "wait for video release" movie. sunday, we did absolutely nothing and it was fabulous - absolutely fabulous.

so, on monday reality hit again. went to work - was pretty bored. came home tonight and went back out again for paint samples. i'm surprised at this point the people at sherwin-williams don't recognize us. we are on paint sample #5 for the bedroom. after a month of removing wallpaper, it has taken almost the same amount of time to pick a color. i'm pushing for an accent wall of blue with the rest of the room tan. ben is anti the accent wall as he is most of my paint color choices. we shall see what happens in time. big decision, i know.

crazy conversing

ever noticed how some people laugh at inappropriate times? i answered the phone at work today and because the vet clinic i work at has 3 locations, she asks, "which clinic is this?" i tell her, and she laughs, loudly, "ha, ha, ha - i thought so." i think to myself...what is funny here? i didn't tell her a joke. don't get me wrong, i don't mind laughing. i like to laugh when things are funny. it didn't sound like nervous laughter. more people than you would think have this problem. i wish i could record my conversations with people and play them back for you all to listen to. this conversation doesn't even come close to some of my best. there are times when i want to take the receiver and bang it on the desktop until the person quits rambling. there is a level of information i need to know. i need to know when you want to bring your pet in and why it is coming. i do not need to know the last time it pooped, urinated, ate, rolled over, lied down, licked itself, etc. unless it is pertinent to the visit. some people i think are lonely - some i think just talk too much - others i think are crazy. the best question i have ever heard is "is it ok if i breed my dog with her brother?" um...no, not ok. that's the kind that after i hang up the phone i just stand in awe and say "wow."
